I have been using static websites and content management systems (like blogs, and the more advanced types) since 1996. There was always a pay off - with handmade pages, you had control over your meta tags and design, but they were a bitch to update, especially with larger sites. With the content management systems, it was difficult to get them to do what you wanted to do; often completely impossible, and that always annoyed me no end.
SpaceNodes are the best of both worlds.
They take the pain out of creating a website that has no broken links, looks smart, where everything fits together and looks good on the one hand; and on the other hand gives you amazing flexibility as to what you want to do.
With SpaceNodes, you can have splash pages. Heck, you could make a whole flash website out of a SpaceNode if you wanted to! You can have many articles databases, you can have folders with static pages, FTP access for files - and the permutations are literally legion.
Your SpaceNode really invites you to add more content; this is something I've found fascinating and which has helped me in my work to be able to write more articles, more specifically targetted at the audience of the website.
Directly interacting with the stats, and having a structure that makes SEO a breeze (rather than hindering it as just about all the rest of the software out there seems to be doing!) makes getting traffic not just easy, but sort of inevitable.
By linking up my SpaceNodes, I get staggering amounts of traffic across my personal network, even though the topics on the sites are really specialised.
I think of SpaceNodes as "my flexible friends" - rather than struggling with software and getting endlessly annoyed, I can place my articles and information, downloads and images directly and quickly in front of the audiences on the web, and that sets me free to get on with my mission - to change the world!

A number of the StarFields VIPs have their own SpaceNodes now, and are enjoying the real energizing effects on your webpresence they bring - so if you're sitting on the fence, or you had bad experiences with websites, forget all of that and hop on over, get your own SpaceNode (or 2, or 3 ...!) and join in the fun.
The more, the merrier!
Love the WWW, love SpaceNodes x
